Concannon was previously vice chairman of the GCS group and in his new position is responsible for oversight of the group's operations. He tells GlobeSt.com that his new duties will include handling the profit and loss side of the business, as well as the day-to-day global operations.
"In the past, I ran the whole business development side; the consulting and strategy side," he comments. "I've been very focused on the client side, which gives me an understanding of the voice of the client." With that particular experience, and additional past experience, Concannon says he's ready to help continue building CB into a full-service global platform.
The good news for CB is Concannon is no stranger to corporate services, having launched Trammell Crow Co.'s corporate services business in 1991, five years after joining the Dallas-based company. Throughout the 1990s, Concannon built the division, which provided real estate outsourcing services to corporate, healthcare and public sector clients.
Concannon joined CB's executive management upon TCC's acquisition in 2006. In recent years, he's played a large role in the company's global expansion helping to bring clients on board such as PepsiCo, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Ontario Realty Corp and ADP. He also played a role in expanding services to contractual clients such as Bank of America, Sprint, Cisco and Cigna.
Concannon says the global end of the business has changed since the early 1990s; at that time, a company's value-proposition involved building client relationships and trust with the client. Once trust was built, services could be brought under one common umbrella, which led to a team model. These days, Concannon continues, expert models and stronger global integration are being built into the team models, with expertise involving more innovation and value.
"For example, 10 years ago, global platforms didn't exist to drive consistency, but today they do," he remarks. "In a lot of ways, we're at the ground floor of a new opportunity, because of this global integrated model."
Concannon acknowledges the appointment is a type of coming home for him, as he spent the majority of his career in the corporate and global services arena. "It's why this new position is such a perfect fit."
