The Distressed Assets Investor, set to launch Oct. 1, is "Groundbreaking in two ways," notes Desiato. "First, DAI is geared to the investor who wants to tap into the sale of distressed assets, providing field-level guidance on the pitfalls and possibilities inherent in this area. Also, we believe that this new newsletter will deliver a solid, interested audience and platform where practitioners can promote their capabilities."
Every issue of DAI will feature in-depth analysis of issues critical to the investment process, such as mark-to-market shifts and the impact of ratings agencies on valuations. Columns from industry experts in the fields of real estate law, appraisals, special servicing and finance add to the knowledge base of the subscriber. Our roster of contributors includes Jim Amorin of the Appraisal Institute, John D'Amico of Centerline Capital, Mark Edelstein of Morrison & Foerster and Bliss Morris of First Financial Network. A key part of the monthly coverage will come from content partners Real Capital Analytics and Trepp, who are supplying detailed data on specific properties and CMBS paper currently in some form of distress. The editorial effort will be lead by editor Danielle Douglas and by contributing editor Jillian Ambroz. Two seasoned journalists, Douglas is also managing editor of Real Estate Forum, and Ambroz has done stints with Commercial Real Estate Direct, CoStar and Folio Magazine.
DAI is groundbreaking as well in that it is fully digital and interactive. In addition to traditional text, the e-newsletter hosts videos and active links to other related content, such as additional data from our content partners and emails to authors.
In addition to the newsletter and the increased focus on distress coverage that is evident on GlobeSt and in the division's magazines, today, the RealShare Conferences Series will present the group's first in-person RealShare Conference dedicated to Distressed Assets. The kick-off event, already with 300 scheduled attendees, is slated for today at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas.
As GlobeSt.com reported last week, slated for the event are speakers including Mark Grinis of Ernst & Young ("How Much Is in Distress and Where"); Robert M. White, Jr. of RCA ("Putting the Distress in Perspective"); Kevin Donohue of Midland Loan Services ("An Inside Look at the World of Special Servicers"); and Jeffrey A. Lenobel of Schulte Roth & Zabel.
GlobeSt.com's March webinar, "Opportunities in Distressed Assets" gathered roughly 600 unique registrants, underscoring the viability of the market opportunity.
