newly opened brokerage in DC, has expanded its platform to incorporate a retail specialty. The FirstService office, headed by former GVA Advantis president Tim Hague and several GVA staffers, has brought on board Scott Thiell and Roger Carlson, principals of the former First Retail Partners team, and another former First Retail team member, Jason Yanushonis, has also joined the firm as a director.

They are also, of course, bringing along their active client base in the greater Washington-Baltimore-area, which numbers about 25, Carlson tells GlobeSt.com. Several of these firms, including Trader Joes, Panera Bread and HSBC Bank are actively seeking retail locations right now, he says. Other clients in First Retail's portfolio include Hooter's, Pret-A-Manger and Advance Auto Parts. Thiell and Carlson's specialty, he says, are multi-unit rollouts.

At FirstService, they will be principals of the retail services division where they will focus on tenant representation services, including property leasing, urban/downtown leasing and investment sales.

Thiell and Carlson founded First Retail Partners in 2006 after leaving the Madison Retail Group, which they also helped found. First Retail Partners also partnered briefly with GVA Advantis earlier this year.
