CoreNet Global Chairman Barry Varcoe indicated that Zappile was chosen to fill the interim role due to his senior-leader status in the corporate real estate industry as well as his contributions to the leadership of CoreNet Global. Zappile retired from United Technologies in February 2009 after nine years overseeing the company's worldwide real estate operations. His CoreNet experience includes a recently ended three-year term as the association's treasurer.
Zappile says in a prepared statement that he says he's happy to be able to apply his experience "at a pivotal moment for CoreNet Global." He could not immediately be reached Monday for additional comment.
