"The trend for building owners to go for EBOM is accelerating," Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers' Evan Tyroler tells GlobeSt.com. "We are involved in numerous projects for EBOM" and expect to have other clients achieve certification next year.

Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers helped Edison Place a 400,000-square-foot building located at 701 9th St., achieve Gold LEED EBOM certification this past summer – the first designation for the District.

EBOM certification for Market Square, located at 701 and 801 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, and owned by an affiliate of Beacon Capital Partners, LLC was a more complex process, though, Tyroler says as it is a multi tenant, multi use complex that includes residential condo units. These were not part of the certification.

Retro-commissioning of Market Square included installing new lighting, high efficiency motors, and operational adjustments to the energy management system. Water efficiency upgrades resulted in a savings to date of over 1.7-million gallons of potable water.
