Last year's average occupancy, 60.7%, was the worst on recordfor the Orlando market since STR began tracking the local industryin 1987. Annual percentage declines in ADR and RevPAR were also theworst on record. The data excludes Walt Disney World hotels andresorts.

"Everyone's saying it's the worst year they've seen in the hotelindustry," says Scott Smith, a lodging instructor at the Universityof Central Florida's Rosen College of Hospitality Management. Theeconomy is the culprit, he adds.
