The deals total 85,000 square feet and arelikely to lead to additional retail as these tenants move in, DavidZapponi, development director of Madison Marquette, tells GlobeSt.com."Charles County has outpaced growth compared to other counties inMaryland. We are capitalizing on that and actually seeing moreinterest from retailers," he says.
The tenants include Christmas Tree Shops, which has inked 35,000square feet at the Waldorf location--the retailer's first in theDC metro area. Another tenant is hhgregg, with32,000 square feet. Scheduled to open in summer 2010, it will be the first Maryland location for the online electronics and appliances supplier. Massage Envy, SportsClip and Salon Plaza have also signed deals.
Other tenants in the mall include DollarGeneral, which recently expanded and now occupies 12,000 square feet,and Men's Wearhouse, which also joined the center in spring 2009.
