CT founder Robert Campbell, who established the company in 1994 along with U.T. Thompson, explains the recent name change and the move. He points out that CT Realty Investors coincides with the commencement of its latest private equity investment fund offering and reflects the company’s investment and acquisition strategy―in contrast to the construction and development focus of CT Realty Corp.

Last year, CT Realty brought longtime investor James “Watty” Watson on board as president and CEO of the company to manage its growth plans along with new addition Carter Ewing as an executive vice president. The trio of Campbell, Watson and Ewing will lead the new fund capitalization and investment strategy for CT Realty Investors.

The new CT Realty Investors headquarters is on the first floor of the northern-most building in phase two of the Summit at Aliso Viejo project. It is known as the TechSpace building and is master-leased by TechSpace, a provider of flexible office space and information technology services, which in 2008 signed a $25 million lease that runs through 2017 for 86,400 square feet at two buildings owned by Rreef at 65 and 75 Enterprise at the Summit Office Campus. Watson, in addition to his posts at CT Realty, is the CEO of TechSpace and will remain in that position along with his duties at CT as the two companies become more strategically aligned, Campbell said at the time Watson joined CT.

CT Realty Investors represented itself in the lease at its new TechSpace headquarters building. Building owner Rreef was represented by Carol Tripani of CBRE’s Newport Beach office, who was the leasing agent at the time of the signing. Since then, Rreef has named Stream Realty as the leasing agent for 65 Enterprise and four other buildings at the office park.

Since 1994, CT Realty Investors has raised capital and invested in a broad base of real estate investments through 10 independent CT-sponsored and managed Funds.  During its history, CT Realty Investors cycled $2.5 billion worth of product in 170 transactions through its former headquarters building developed by CT on Birch Street, which it is vacating for the new premises in Aliso Viejo.
