Stream Data Center's project – a 20,000-square-foot data centerlocated in the Richardson Telecom Corridor designed to Tier III+standards and structurally enhanced to withstand 125 mph winds – isjust one of several data center projects that have been completedrecently or are under construction across the Metroplex.

In fact, Dallas/Fort Worth ranks as one of the top data centermarkets in the nation, according to Anthony Bolner, senior vicepresident of Stream Data Centers. "We are finding that mostcorporate users are running out of space, power and cooling fortheir in-house data centers," he tells GlobeSt., adding thatDallas/Fort Worth tops the list for many corporate users, whetherthey're establishing new operations or expanding.

For example, Texas Instruments, Cisco Systems, Bank of America,Capital One, AT&T, Verizon, and Fujitsu have recentlyestablished data centers in the Metroplex. Similarly, SoftLayerTechnologies Inc. has leased 50,000 square feet from Digital RealtyTrust Inc. to relocate its headquarters from Plano to FarmersBranch. The new space will not only house its headquarters office,but data center space and global network operations center.
