[IMGCAP(1)]SAN FRANCISCO-Newly formed Haiyi Hotels and Management Group has acquired three hotels totaling 308 rooms in the South of Market district from Big Rock Partners of Beverly Hills: the 143-room Best Western Americania Hotel, the 48-room Best Western Carriage Inn and the 117-room Good Hotel. The three properties are the first acquisitions by Haiyi, which is a subsidiary of Portland, OR-based American Pacific International Capital Inc.[IMGCAP(2)]Officials of the new firm note that the hotels were recently renovated, so Haiyi will will incorporate minor gradual changes in the restaurants and front desk areas. Over the next 12 to 18 months, Haiyi intends to expand and continually develop its brand in the US, Europe and Asia with a projected growth of 10-20 hotel properties globally.[IMGCAP(3)]Wilson Chen, president and CEO of American Pacific International, says that Haiyi Hotel Management California will work in tandem with the previous hotel management company, joie de vivre, in a transition of the management of the properties. Haiyi comes from two Chinese words, Hai and Yi, according to the new owners, who explain that Hai means ocean and Yi means relaxation.

Stephen Kuemper, American Pacific International’s chief operating officer, says that the three hotels “provided a compelling package with which we could open our California hotel portfolio.” The Best Western Americania, at 121 Sevent St., is close to San Francisco’s Civic Center and Moscone Convention Center. It is a boutique hotel featuring what the new owners call “playful amenties” such as retro-style furnishings and board games in each guest room.
