COLMAR, PA- Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc. hasteamed up with Apollo Solar Partners, a turnkey solar solutionscompany, to design a solar photovoltaic system for Hatfield IceWorld, an ice skating facility here. “With so many businessesfocused on reducing energy costs and energy efficiency, this designfor the ice arena just makes perfect sense,” David Margolin, president of Apollo Solar, tells GlobeSt.com.

The solar PV panel array will be mounted on the roof of the67,500-square-foot ice rink facility, which houses tworegulation-size rinks. The system design calls for a nameplaterating of 400 kilowatts, which is estimated to generate 473,601kilowatt hours of power per year and reduce carbon dioxideemissions by 355 tons, also yearly.

Apollo Solar set the design criteria, solar specifications andmounting designs for the appropriate sun angles for the solar PVarrays, while Jarmel Kizel’s Energy Solutions Studio performedstructural analysis and design as well as electrical design.Kenrich Mechanical, Inc., a company that supplies green productsand provides solar installation services, is assisting. “This solarPV array will considerably reduce Hatfield Ice World’s energy billand energy consumption, while at the same time providing them withadditional revenue through Solar Renewable Energy Credits, or solarAECs," says Jarmel Kizel principal Matthew B.
