CHICAGO-Harpo Studios, the Oprah Winfrey-owned company, has opened a small version of its new Oprah Store concept in the Water Tower Place mall. The 138-square-foot kiosk is an extension of the first 5,500-square-foot store that opened at 37 N. Carpenter St. in the West Loop in 2008.
The store features more than 700 private label products representing Winfrey’s style and tastes, as featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show and the pages of “O”, Winfrey’s magazine, according to a company statement. The new “micro-salon” in the mall’s common area will showcase select merchandise, including apparel, memorabilia and collectibles, as well as items from the “O” baby collection and an assortment of South African crafts and jewelry.
Darcy Rogers, general manager at Harpo Retail, said in a statement that the company is happy to have a location on the Magnificent Mile, just north of downtown Chicago. “Water Tower Place is an iconic shopping destination and the perfect place for us to expand,” she said. The company reportedly has other store projects in the works.
The 710,000-square-foot Water Tower includes 100 retail stores. Macy’s is an anchor, with other stores including Abercrombie, J. Jill, the Limited, Godiva and Victoria’s Secret.
