WASHINGTON, DC-The District’s Department of Health renewedand expanded the space it occupies at 899 N. Capitol St., NE(formerly 825 N. Capitol St., NE), taking 150,000 square feetin the two-building Union Square office complex. That representsan approximate 10% expansion of space. Akridge's Ben Meiseland Katie Burton and Cushman & Wakefield's Brian Sullivan andPeter Marcin repped the landlord.

DOH has had offices at Union Square--which is currentlyundergoing a substantial renovation--since 1999. Now itplans to consolidate its headquarters into the buildingoriginally addressed as 825 N. Capitol. The new build-out willtake place on floors one through five while DOH occupiesinterim space on floors six through nine. A total of up to450,000 square feet is expected to be available between thetwo updated structures.

Owned by the CIM Group and managed by Akridge, theproperty’s renovations include new security features, a newlobby, modernized elevators and restroom facilities, a fitnessfacility, and a re-landscaped outdoor plaza.
