LEXINGTON, MA-Shire plc is purchasing all of the 96-acre Lexington Technology Park campus for $165 million. The property boasts Shire as its majority tenant, which occupies roughly 445,000 square feet in four buildings at the former Raytheon Global Headquarters.

Shire occupies three of the four buildings on campus, according to Shire's broker for this site and deal, Richards Barry Joyce & Partners. The tech company fully leased the 52,000-square-foot 125 Spring St. and the 130,000-square-foot 300 Patriot Way and 60,000 square feet in the 94,000-square-foot 500 Patriot Way. In 2008, Shire purchased an adjacent land parcel from owner Patriot Partners and constructed 400 Patriot Way, a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.

Two Hundred Patriot Way is under construction currently, a parcel to house a 170,000-square-foot building, which Shire leased for 15 years before obtaining the site. In a release Sylvie Gregoire, president of Shire Human Genetic Therapies says, "Shire currently employs 1,000 people in the Commonwealth. This strategic purchase will allow our company greater flexibility as we grow, and enable us to remain focused on the research, development and manufacture of therapies for those suffering from rare diseases." Shire is in the process of a relocation of its Human Genetic Therapies Division from Cambridge to Lexington.
