GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS, OH-A new Hyatt Place Hotel is part of the first phase of the $500-million Grandview Yard project here at Interstate 670 and State Road 315, at the site of a former food warehouse. Locally-based Nationwide Realty Investors and Capital Square Ltd. have partnered to develop the two-million-square-foot project, which will include retail, office and multifamily.

The 126-room Hyatt is now almost complete on the site, and will open on Sept. 1. The hotel, the third of the brand in the local market, will be managed by Columbus Hospitality. Candace Clunk of the management company tells GlobeSt.com that the property has a great hospitality location. “To our left is Ohio State University, and to our right is Downtown, and we’re literally a mile from both areas,” she says.

The rest of phase one is expected to open soon after the Hyatt, said NRI officials. This phase will include a 92,000-square-foot office building, restaurants, a 500-space parking structure and a 42,000-square-foot Urban Active fitness facility. Locally-based M+A Architects will move into the office building as an anchor tenant.

Further phases on the 80-acre site, a former Big Bear grocery warehouse, will include more retail and up to 800 residential units, according to an NRI statement. A company official did not return a call for comment. The firm is best known for the $750-million redevelopment of the Arena District, also in Downtown Columbus.
