NEW YORK CITY-New York is getting ready to witness a significant wave of skyscraper development, with last week's approval from the City Council for the construction of an office tower close to the Empire State Building, the latest reminder.

Developers are now preparing two residential towers, located west of Penn Station, expected to drastically alter the Manhattan skyline.
