BOSTON-Lawrence Community Works decided to buy and renovate thefour historic buildings named the Newbury & Garden project inthe Boston's North Common neighborhood to serve as inexpensivehousing development by raising both public and private funds worth$1.9 million.

The funds include $64,000 as HUD lead-paint hazard-control fundsand $600,000 as HUD HOME Investment Partnerships Program funding.Other partners included in the project are NeighborWorks America,the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Mass Housing InvestmentCorp. and Enterprise Bank.
