BOSTON-Lawrence Community Works decided to buy and renovate the four historic buildings named the Newbury & Garden project in the Boston's North Common neighborhood to serve as inexpensive housing development by raising both public and private funds worth $1.9 million.
The funds include $64,000 as HUD lead-paint hazard-control funds and $600,000 as HUD HOME Investment Partnerships Program funding. Other partners included in the project are NeighborWorks America, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Mass Housing Investment Corp. and Enterprise Bank. For the full story, go to Boston Globe.
