NEW YORK CITY-The Manufactured Housing Institute reported a 6.4% increase in shipments during the first seven months of 2010 in the manufacturing housing unit market. The selling price of manufactured homes ranges from $35,000 to $100,000.

The average price for site-built condominiums and houses stood at $179,000 in August 2010. The industry's biggest customers are residents living in rural areas, retirees and low-income people, which account for 6% of the US residents. For the full story, go to Wall Street Journal.
