Black Friday is becoming more and more irrelevant, or at least the Black Friday that we see on media reports, where people are crushing each other to get a cheap laptop in Walmart in the early morning hours after Thanksgiving.

According to one report, what people are soon going to figure out is that they can get most of the same deals on that day without leaving their house. An organization called dealnews.com says in its 15 Black Friday Myths that "Black Friday" now actually starts on Thanksgiving, when many retailers start offering blockbuster deals on their Web sites.

And even on Friday, most of the deals that you get in stores can be had on the Internet. Apple, for example, has the same deals on its site that it does in stores.

Another thing the report points out is that the best deals aren't even often to be had on Black Friday in the first place. Most of the best bargains, says dealnews.com, take place in December.

We're not encouraging people to abandon the shopping center, but Black Friday seems to get more and more out of hand. And why not stay away from that throng, especially if you can get the same deals at home. Of course, if you're enjoy the holiday crush on what is likely a well-deserved day off, help yourself dude.
