NEW YORK CITY—Mirroring the voter acrimony that came to the surface on Election Day, survey respondents to GlobeSt.com’s “Top 10 Biz Clueless Politicos” took aim at some of the top national political leaders in Washington.
The survey, part of Globest.com’s 10th anniversary, provided real estate corporate executives the same names for its “Top 10 Biz Savvy Politicos” survey, but this time asked them to list their top candidates for “Biz Clueless Politico.” While both Republicans and Democrats took a beating on this one, outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi won hands-down with a 67% vote tally.
Perhaps suffering from the fallout of his health care and Wall Street reform measures, President Barack Obama came in at number two at 54%. Sarah Palin heads the GOP on this dubious list and comes in number three overall with 40% of the vote.
The survey responders leveled some harsh criticism at Rep. Pelosi, including this statement by a responder who ranked the California Democrat No. 1: “Does not understand business in any way shape or form.”
Another responder said of his top pick President Obama: “Tough choice but it has to go to the one at the top of the pecking order. No leadership exhibited on business issues.”
Former Alaska Governor Palin was not immune to some barbs leveled by some survey responders, including this terse note: “Clueless in international geopolitics.”
The “worst” of the rest were: Congressman Barney Frank (No. 4); followed by US Senators Harry Reid (No. 5) and John McCain (No. 6); Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner (No. 7); US Senator Chuck Schumer (No. 8); US House Minority Leader John Boehner (No. 9); and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger rounding out the list.
Tomorrow: Look for the results of the GlobeSt.com survey “Top Industry Icons.”
