NEW YORK CITY – The Top Industry Newsmaker over the past 10years is Vornado Realty Trust Chairman Steven Roth, who garnered51% of the vote in a Globest.com survey.

Starwood Capital Group chairman and CEO Barry Sternlichtfinished in second place with 41%, followed closely by BlackstoneGroup CEO Steven Schwartzman in third at 36%. The survey wasconducted in conjunction with Globest.com’s 10thanniversary.

Roth was the CEO of the office and retail REIT for 28 years(1981-2009) stepping down last year to be replaced by currentpresident and CEO Michael D. Fascitelli. Roth is also theco-founder and managing general partner of Interstate Propertiesand chairman and CEO of Alexander's, Inc.
