DETROIT-St. Louis-based Roberts Hotel Group has requested theEconomic Development Corp. of Detroit to provide a $700,000 loan toassist it to acquire and refurbish the empty Omni Detroit Hotel atRiver Place. The firm plans to reopen the hotel by April 2011 undera new name.

The loan would be a portion of a $7 million deal to acquire andreopen the hotel and develop fresh banquet amenities. Thequasi-public EDC board has to approve the proposal. For thefull story, go to Detroit Free Press.
