OCEANSIDE, CA-R.D. Olson Development of Irvine, CA has begun construction of a $25 million, 140-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel that will be the newest prototype design by the Marriott brand. R.D. Olson will own the 82,000-square-foot hotel, which will be managed by Marriott.
The hotel is under way at 3501 Seagate Way, near the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and Rancho Del Oro Drive in the Ocean Ranch development in Oceanside, which is home to a number of Fortune 500 companies. According to Olson, the new prototype design will represent the Courtyard by Marriott’s largest brand by room count.
The new Courtyard is the first of its kind to open in San Diego County, showcasing a variety of new amenities and upgrades that cater to business travelers’ needs, yet "provide the comforts of home," the developer says. Among the features designed to accommodate people who travel frequently for business and want to optimize their productivity, yet also enjoy personal time, will be Internet access, large flat-screen televisions, microwave ovens and business work spaces.
The hotel also will include 2,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness room, a large outdoor pool and a spa. It is the second hotel that R.D. Olson has developed here; the first was a Residence Inn by Marriott that was completed in 2007.
R.D. Olson Construction, of which Robert Olson founded in 1979 and remains its CEO, will build the Courtyard by Marriott. Johnson Braund Design Group of Seattle, which R.D. Olson Construction has often worked with in renovating and building new hotels throughout California, will provide architectural and interior designer services.
The new Courtyard by Marriott in Oceanside is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2011.
