BERLIN-Although the US market for commercial mortgage-backed securities is improving, European CMBS continue to be stagnant. The CMBS market in Europe was growing during recession and $64-billion CMBS were sold in 2007 to investors, but since then no CMBS haven been issued.
Hans Vrensen from DTZ Research has said that until investors find assurance in the securitized finance instruments, CMBS may not return in Europe. Five major CMBS issues supported by German multifamily housing expected to mature in the coming years. For the full story, go to Wall Street Journal.
