NEW YORK CITY-Whole Foods Market, which proposed a plan five years ago to open a new store on the Gowanus Canal, finally receives green signal to move forward with its plan. The upscale grocer has sent a letter to Brooklyn Community Board 6 stating that it will open the store in late 2012 at Third Street and Third Avenue.

The site will have a 52,000-square-foot store, a 248-car parking lot and a 20,000-square-foot greenhouse on the rooftop. For the full story, go to Crain's New York Business.
