SAN DIEGO-Growth at schools in the area of downtown San Diego has triggered planning for commercial development in Upper East Village. After receiving approval in 2002, San Diego City College has increased its physical campus space.

The college has acquired two city blocks situated in the northern East Village, and it has invested nearly $600 million for its current expansion.
