GLENVIEW, IL-Mead Johnson Nutrition Co. has doubled its office tenancy at the Opus Gateway building here to about 68,000 square feet. The move is part of a consolidation to the company’s new headquarters within the building from a satellite office in Evansville, IN.

The pediatric nutrition firm has only been in the four-story building since early 2009. Lynn Clark, the company’s SVP of human resources, said the 134,000 square foot building is in the right location at the right price.

Completed in 2008, the property at 2701 Patriot Blvd. is now occupied by two tenants. Mead Johnson is in the top two floors, and Navman Wireless has 9,000 square feet in the bottom floor. The rest is vacant and available, says John Carlson, real estate director for Opus Development Corp.

“We’re seeing a little activity out there, though obviously we’d like it to be stronger,” Carlson tells GlobeSt.com. “We’re excited that we now have 50% occupancy, and we’re ready to be aggressive with new deals that come through the building. There’s a lot of competition in the North submarket.”

He says he can’t comment on the recent expansion lease, other than to say it is long-term, though asking rates were reported to be about $20 per square foot in May 2009. The Glen is located along with other office, retail, hotel and industrial uses on the former 1,200-acre Glenview Naval Air Station.
