NEW YORK CITY-Capital markets veteran Gary H. Sherman is headingup an acquisitions business for Brook Partners as well as thefirm’s newly opened New York City office, the Dallas-basedoperating company says in a release. Sherman joins the firm aschief investment officer, while Paul R. Smith is coming aboard asCOO.

Sherman’s commercial real estate career spans a quarter century.During the early 1990s, he worked at Lennar Partners, a MorganStanley Real Estate Fund joint venture, acquiring and managingdistressed real estate loans. Subsequently, he joined Apollo RealEstate Advisors, where he managed more than $2 billion of diversereal estate assets across the US.

Between 1996 and 2005, Sherman was managing director andprincipal at Euristates Inc., the US subsidiary France-based EURISSA. There, he directed and actively managed all US real estateinvestment activities. In 2005, Sherman formed Townhouse Advisors,which developed a series of niche high-end residential projects inNew York City.
