STORY CITY, IOWA-WinField Solutions, a division of the Arden Hills, MN-based Land O’Lakes Inc. company, has fully leased a 411,000-square-foot distribution center here for a consolidated stocking warehouse and service center. The company is a manufacturer of seed and crop protection products.
Pella Corp., based in Pella, Iowa, had been leasing the building from the Kuyper family, it’s parent company, since 1997, using the building as a window manufacturing facility. However, Pella closed the plant in 2008 due to the housing crisis and decreased demand. At the time, Pella was the largest employer in this city, about 30 miles north of Des Moines.
WinField has signed a lease with the Kuyper family to use the building. Jeb Atkinson with Brentwood, TN-based ProVenture said the lease represents a consolidation of regional offices for WinField. “Winfield does a lot of business in the heartland, so this building made sense,” Atkinson tells GlobeSt.com. He and Randy Wolcott represented the tenant in the lease, and Gerry Norton with Binswanger represented the Kuyper family.
