
Sommer
LOS ANGELES-Grubb & Ellis Co. has added a three-member office team from Studley here and, in the Inland Empire, has hired a two-member retail team from CBRE.
The office team of Arlene Sommer, Mark Robinson and Evan Kantor joins Grubb & Ellis, with Sommer and Robinson signing on as executive vice presidents and Kantor as a senior associate. In the Inland Empire, Thomas J. Swieca and Tony Archer have joined the company’s Retail Group as senior vice presidents at the company's Ontario office.
Sommer, Robinson and Kantor specialize in office tenant representation, primarily in the media, entertainment, legal and financial industries. At Studley, the three were executive managing director, senior managing director and assistant director, respectively.

Robinson
Robinson and Sommer represent the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Inc., known for the Grammy Awards, Screen Actors Guild, Revolution Studios, Dick Clark Productions Inc., Actors’ Equity Association, Wilshire Associates, Bryan Cave LLP and Perkins Coie LLP.
Chuck Hunt, executive managing director for Grubb & Ellis in Southern California, commented in announcing the new team: "Arlene and Mark have an immense knowledge base about the entertainment and media industries, as well as the legal and financial business. They bring a number of long-term client relationships throughout Southern California.”
Primarily focusing on real estate in Santa Monica, Sommer has negotiated transactions totaling more than 6.5 million square feet of space on behalf of clients during her 25-year career.

Kantor
Sommer spent more than half of her career at Studley, where she was consistently ranked as one of the company’s top performing professionals in the Western Region. In 2000, she ranked as the company’s top producer in Southern California.
A 25-year industry veteran, Robinson spent 14 years with Studley, where he was involved in the closing of more than 3.2 million square feet of space and the formation of the Media Services Group, where he served as a senior strategist and lead negotiator. The group consists of brokerage, architectural, financial and project management professionals and was designed to ensure integrated service delivery throughout an entire project.
Robinson began his career in 1985 with Leonard Nadler Associates Inc., a boutique commercial real estate firm specializing in corporate and tenant representation, where he spent 11 years and ultimately rose to vice president.

Swieca
Kantor began his career in commercial real estate in 2004 with DAUM Commercial Real Estate Services, and joined Sommer and Robinson in their tenant representation practice at Studley in 2008.
In Ontario, Swieca and Archer will specialize in tenant representation and shopping center leasing and sales in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. At CB Richard Ellis, Swieca and Archer were senior vice president and first vice president, respectively.
Dave Burback, Grubb & Ellis executive vice president and managing director for the Inland Empire, notes that as partners for more than 15 years, Swieca and Archer have represented both landlords and tenants in significant retail centers. Their experience includes deals with major retailers such as Target, Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Kohl’s, Best Buy and Chevron to name a few.

Archer
Swieca and Archer currently represent The Home Depot, Stater Bros. Markets, 99 Cent Only Stores, CVS Drug Stores and O’Reilly Auto Parts. Landlords the team has represented include Forest City Development, Fritz Duda Company, Marketplace Properties, Peninsula Retail Partners, Colonies Crossroad Partners and KZ Holdings.
With 31 years of experience, Swieca has been involved in sale and lease transactions valued in excess of $1 billion. He began his career with CB Richard Ellis in 1979. Archer began his career with CB Richard Ellis in 1992 and has been involved in sale and lease transactions valued in excess of $600 million.
