HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM-Steelman Partners, based in Las Vegas, has been selected to design the 999-room Happyland Hotel in Vietnam. The hotel will be part of the $600 million Happyland Entertainment City, which will include a theme park, retail, several hotels and a section for residential development.

The Happyland Hotel will feature a casino and large suites, as well as regular guest rooms, said Paul Steelman, CEO of the design firm. His company specializes in gaming and entertainment facility design. Khang Thong Group is the developer of the project.

Steelman said the government is very interested in tourism. “You’ve got pent up demand for entertainment offerings in Vietnam,” he said in a statement. He said the entire entertainment complex is projected to receive around 14 million visitors a year and generate jobs for about 10,000 people. The project is expected to be complete in 2014, Steelman said.
