WASHINGTON, DC-Bethesda, MD-based Streetsense and Concord Eastridge, a national developer of student housing with a local office in Arlington, VA, are partnering to expand into the university retail space. The duo has formalized a working partnership now that they have several projects in the pipeline, CEO Susan Eastridge of Concord Eastridge tells GlobeSt.com.
She estimates there is between $140 million to $150 million worth of projects in the pipeline, which stretches out for the next 12 to 18 months. These projects are underway in Virginia, West Virginia, Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Arizona.
This particular niche--college and university retail--has been overlooked by many schools, which are now focusing on new avenues to build up revenue, Eastridge says. For its part, Concord Eastridge recently completed the $115-million first phase of Eagle Village, a mixed-use development at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA.
The project included student housing as well as office, retail and hospitality uses. Concord Eastridge also developed the Mason Inn, a conference center and hotel on the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, which just achieved Gold LEED certification.
