WASHINGTON, DC-The fire that broke out at the Ronald Reagan building early Tuesday morning was ultimately a non-event--except that it disrupted conferences and meetings being held there, not to mention the day-to-day business of the government agencies that call the building home.

Included in this group was the annual Washington, DC RealShare conference, which had been set to begin at 7:30 am in the convention hall. The fire, which from all accounts started in the cafeteria, was put out long before noon, with most of the building able to reopen.

However, by that point, it was too late for RealShare to begin. It had been scheduled to run until early afternoon, kicked off by a keynote that was to be delivered by Walker & Dunlop CEO Willy Walker and followed by some 34 speakers and panelists.

RealShare conference coordinator Kim Last promptly reconstituted the conference for next week. The new date is February 25 and it will be held at the same venue. Nearly all of the speakers originally scheduled have confirmed their attendance.
