WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA-Developer Cohen Brothers Realty Corp. named Cushman & Wakefield as the leasing agent for Cohen's new Red Building, a 400,000-square-foot class A office building that is under construction here at the Pacific Design Center. Bruce Mosler, chairman of global brokerage and former C&W CEO, will lead the team, which includes C&W chairman John Cushman, vice chairman Eric Olofson, senior director Andrew McDonald and Scott Menkus.
Charles Cohen, president and CEO of Cohen Bros., notes that the Red Building will be ready for tenant improvement build outs as early as the spring and ready for occupancy by the third quarter of this year. Cohen and architect Cesar Pelli, as reported on GlobeSt.com, recently presided over a topping-out ceremony at the building.
Cohen bought the 14-acre Pacific Design Center in 1999 and decided to complete the original vision conceived for the Design Center 40 years ago by Pelli. The first building at the center was the blue building, known as the Blue Whale. It was completed in 1975. The second building, the green building, was completed in 1988. At that point, the RedBuilding was an abstract concept of Pelli’s yet to be fleshed out.
“The RedBuilding was designed to be one of the greatest buildings in the entire country and one of the most distinctive on the West Coast,” Cohen said. “We have achieved the goal of creating a world-class architecturally-significant complex. The building contains a level of luxurious amenities for entertainment industry executives that is not available anywhere else in Southern California, including a VIP express elevator from the valet drop off that shoots executives directly to their offices.”
The Pacific Design Center is the frequent site of cultural events in the fields of art, design, film, music, performance, architecture, and interior and landscape design.
Mosler and Cushman & Wakefield work closely with Cohen Bros. on other properties, having secured leases for more than 400,000 square feet in the past six months, of which 212,594 square feet was for the Meredith Corp., located at one of Cohen's Manhattan buildings at 805 Third Ave. in New York City.
