IRVINE, CA-Newmark Knight Frank has hired a former Cresa Partners team to expand the company's industrial property capabilities in Orange County, saying that the time is right to focus on that segment now that Southern California's two-billion-square-foot industrial market is recovering. The new team includes principals Brian Bennett, Wes Hunnicutt and Matt Moore, along with associate director Kurt Gottschling.

Working together at CresaPartners for the past five years, the team has acquired warehouses and distribution hubs for nationally and internationally recognized brands including Nike, MGM Resorts, Bridgestone/Firestone and Cambro Manufacturing. At Newmark Knight Frank, the team will lead the Industrial Practice Group’s Orange County-based SoCal operation, servicing clients in the Inland Empire and Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Bennett, commenting on the move in a Newmark Knight press release, observed that "the Southern California industrial market is on the road to recovery and the fundamentals are improving." Michael Sheinkop, Chicago-based EVP of national brokerage and advisory services at Newmark Knight Frank, commented: "Southern California is a key market for our global, national and local clients, and Brian, Wes and Matt as principals are the bookends we needed in the West for our industrial services practice."

Jeff Manley, managing principal in the Newport Beach office of Cresa Partners, commented on the team's move: "We hope they now find themselves in roles that will be rewarding and personally satisfying. We wish them well."

Bennett has provided strategic tenant representation and multi-market advisory services to local and national clients for more than 13 years, working for CB Richard Ellis and a regional developer before Cresa Partners. Hunnicutt specializes in strategic tenant representation and has served industrial and manufacturing companies throughout Southern California on lease renewals and restructuring, relocations, acquisitions and consolidations. He was an integral part in establishing the industrial-focused tenant representation platform for Cresa Partners Orange County. His nine years of experience also includes positions at Lee & Associates and Corporate Realty Advisors.

Moore, in more than nine years of representing corporate tenants and arranging investment sales throughout Southern California, has completed nearly five million square feet of office and industrial assignments cumulatively valued at approximately $550 million. He previously held posts at CresaPartners, NAI Capital and Lee & Associates.

Gottschling represents users of office and industrial space in the Inland Empire. For three years, he has assisted clients with acquisitions, expansions, consolidations, lease renewals and lease or purchase assignments.
