OAKLAND, CA-Shorenstein Properties LLC and MetLife Real Estate Investments have chosen Grubb & Ellis as the leasing agent for 601 City Center, a planned 23-story, 580,800-square-foot office building in Downtown Oakland. The Grubb & Ellis team will include senior vice presidents John Dolby, John Jensen and Scott Ellis, along with vice president Michael McCormac. The goal of the assignment is to sign an anchor tenant of the property in order for Shorenstein to begin construction.

Located at 601 12th St., at the intersection of Jefferson and 12th streets, 601 City Center will include 26,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. The average floor size will be 26,000 square feet. The development site is in Oakland City Center, close to the Bay Area Rapid Transit and the East Bay Ferries, as well as the University of California, Berkeley. Area amenities include a diverse mix of retail stores, hotels and fitness centers.

The 601 City Center has been pre-approved for LEED Platinum designation, the highest LEED certification level. To achieve the LEED Platinum certification, 601 City Center is designed with such energy saving features as recycled materials to construct major building components, light sensors that turn off or dim lights when adequate daylight is available and a sustainable green roof design.
