There is finally a buyer for Blockbuster. Dish Network decided to spend $320 million to acquire the move-rental outfit, in a move that is mainly seen as an effort to increase the amount of content it can stream.

But what will become of all of those stores now?

For its part, Dish mentioned Blockbuster's physical locations when announcing the deal: "With its more than 1,700 store locations...we look forward to working with its employees to re-establish Blockbuster's brand as a leader in video entertainment."

So we're assuming that since Dish mentioned the stores, it has some kind of plan for them. A Wired article suggests that Dish could use the locations to promote its primary product and sign up new customers. Barron's seems to think that Dish might try the video-rental game.

But for the time being this seems like better news for landlords than a new buyer simply shuttering all of Blockbuster's locations. What are your thoughts on the transaction and Blockbuster's real estate future?
