WASHINGTON, DC-The law firm Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck, PC, is taking 42,181-sf at an East End office building here. The move, though, will not represent a net win for the District in terms of new space as the firm is moving from a location just a few blocks away.
The office building, called The Westory, is located at 607 14th St., NW. It is owned by an affiliate of Deka Immobilien Investment. The law firm, which signed a ten-year deal with a move in date scheduled for March 2012, will relocate from 1425 K St., NW. Cassidy Turley, which did not return a call to GlobeSt.com for this story, represented both buyer and seller. Zeke Dodson, Laurie McMahon and Kerri Mulligan Salih repped the owner, while Cassidy Turley’s Art Santry and Carden McGehee from Transwestern represented Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck.
An expansion would have been welcome to the District. In Q1 it registered an uptick in vacancy rates. The news is not completely bad: The District continued to experience positive net absorption despite the drop in occupancy.
