MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA-San Mateo-based developer Prometheus Real Estate Group plans to build a new 203-unit multifamily complex at 455 W. Evelyn Ave. near this city’s Downtown transit station. Called the Madera, it is scheduled for completion in early 2013.

Prometheus says that its new project “is uniquely positioned to offer downtown Mountain View living without the need for an automobile.” It will be a three-block walk from Castro Street, withj Caltrain, VTA and bus access.

According to Jon Moss, EVP of development at Prometheus, the key features of theMadera include Individual unit porches and stoops to enhance the pedestrian/neighborhood experience, 203 secured bicycle parking stalls to promote bike use, charge stations for electric vehicles, flex car sharing service, green building design to ensure water and energy conservation, cool roof technology, a fitness and yoga center and a number of other design and engineering elements to ensure a green, efficient complex.

The Madera takes its name, which means wood, from Minton’s Lumber and Supply, the former occupant of the development site. The Madera joins other Mountain View projects of Prometheus, which its development activities in the city in the late 1980’s with the Park Place Apartments and Mountain View City Center.
