WASHINGTON, DC-Hines has selected Jim Dunlop to lead its regional multifamily operations here. As the Houston, TX-based company announced Dunlop’s appointment it also said it wants to grow its business line in the Mid-Atlantic. Hines will be based in the DC area, coordinating activity with the firm’s East Region. The company did not return a call to GlobeSt.com in time for publication.

Most recently, Dunlop was senior vice president for ZOM Development, also in DC, managing its multifamily development for the Mid-Atlantic region. Before that he was senior vice president-Development for Archstone-Smith's Northeast region and was responsible for its residential developments in New York, Boston and Chicago. Dunlop’s ties to Archstone will be welcome as the construction on the CityCenterDC development--a joint Hines and Archstone project--gets underway.

Hines appears to be building out its multifamily platform nationwide, having announced a number of new hires. It has tapped Jon Wood as vice president-Development in its Orlando office, for instance. Ran Holman is joining the Dallas office to focus on several asset classes, including multifamily. Also joining the Houston office is Kevin Batchelor, who will coordinate multifamily activities throughout the southwest with Alan Patton, Hines’ recently appointed senior vice president of the Multifamily Division.
