HOUSTON-Teletron, an Vietnamese-owned retailer headquartered in California, is making its Texas debut with the take-down 17,500 square feet at Lion Square Center. The electronic, home appliance and furniture retailer has a long-term lease at the location, and will open this fall.

“There is a lot of need in that neighborhood for a high-tech retailer like Teletron,” explains Anne Gregory, vice president, marketing and investor relations with Lion Square Center owner Whitestone REIT.  “This type of high-tech tenant will help drive traffic to the center.”

Gregory tells GlobeSt.com that the 119,621-square-foot Lion Square at 10780-10804 Bellaire Blvd. was one of Whitestone REIT’s first acquisitions; the Houston-based company has owned the center since late 2006. The Asian-oriented retail center has unique tenants including a family restaurant, a tea room and holistic health services (including acupuncture). “The tenants there are very service-oriented small business owners,” Gregory says.

Whitestone REIT, in the meantime, will be completing renovations to Lion Square in 2012. The first phase of renovation will finish up this fall and includes new store fronts and a resurfaced parking lot. The remainder of the renovations will involve new landscaping and architectural upgrades.
