BETHESDA, MD-The Bainbridge Cos. just began construction on a luxury multifamily apartment building here that it intends to deliver for August 2013. The 17-story high-rise will have 200 apartments, 7,200-square feet of retail and a four-level underground parking garage. “This is our first development in Bethesda,” Richard Schechter, chairman & CEO of Bainbridge tells GlobeSt.com. “We have been focused on developing a site here within a few blocks of the metro.”
Rents will range between $2,500 to $4,000, depending on the apartment, he adds. Schechter declined to say what the construction would cost, but in an interview last year he told GlobeSt.com roughly $400,000 per unit.
Bainbridge doesn’t have anything else in the pipeline for Bethesda, but the company has three to four other projects in the Washington DC area--specifically Northern Virginia--that it is moving through the planning stages. “We are interested in other areas as well, such as select markets in Maryland,” Schechter says. Outside of the DC area, the company is focusing on Boston, Baltimore and New York.
