McLEAN, VA-Freddie Mac is adding industry veteran John Cannon to its executive ranks. Cannon is joining Freddie Mac Multifamily effective February 15, as senior vice president, Production & Sales. His role will be as chief point person with the GSE’s customers.
Cannon is especially well suited for the position, David Brickman, SVP of Freddie Mac Multifamily, tells GlobeSt.com, because of his extensive ties in the industry. “He has a great track record and has been deeply involved with Freddie Mac, having served on an advisory committee.”
Most recently, Cannon was executive vice president with Berkadia Commercial Mortgage where he led the conventional mortgage banking network, GSE lending, proprietary lending and investment sales platforms. Prior to that, he was at Capmark Finance, where he managed the conventional and HUD production networks and the conventional sales force and was the lead corporate liaison with the GSEs and conduit lenders. Before Capmark, Cannon was an executive at GMAC Commercial Mortgage, orginating servicing-retained commercial mortgage loans for the GSEs and correspondent insurance companies and pension fund clients. He has also been an active member of Freddie Mac’s Seller/Servicer Advisory Council and twice chaired the Production Advisory Committee.
“Our business is a relationship business,” Brickman explains. “It is built on our expertise in the market and our strong relationship with sellers and borrowers. Bringing in someone like John will help us move towards new goals,” such as building a platform that attract more private capital and “perhaps some day might be in private business."
