BETHESDA, MD-Avison Young continues to expand its presence here. Its latest move is the acquisition of Realty Management Co., a local firm that provides property management, facility management and engineering services. Last month, Avison Young recruited an eight-member team from Grubb & Ellis to join its local office. 

The acquisition of Realty Management adds 37 employees to Avison Young's DC area operations and brings an additional two-million square feet to its approximate 50 million square feet of retail, industrial and office properties under management in Canada and the U.S. As part of the acquisition, Donna B. Kay, president of the company, becomes a principal of Avison Young. The transaction also marks Avison Young's 11th location outside of Canada. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Property types under management at Realty Management include private estates, embassies and commercial office and medical buildings. Clients include Inova Health System, Sentara Potomac Hospital, 1430 K Street Condominium Association, Johns Hopkins Healthcare/Suburban Hospital, Laurel Hill Site Center, LLC, Lindsay Enterprises, John and Asa Swart, NexCore Group, LP, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Lorton Professional Center Association and Rock Creek Property Group.
