BETHESDA, MD-The Peterson Cos. and development partner DRI Development Services have secured an anchor tenant for an ambitious one-million-square foot, mixed-use project the duo plans to build here. The tenant is a movie theater company, Silverspot, and the project is the long-delayed Rock Spring Centre. Transwestern’s Bill Miller and Alex Walker represented DRI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transwestern, in the transaction. Silverspot was represented by Mathew Focht and Sierra Group Inc.

This is the project’s first tenant, Taylor Chess, senior vice president, retail leasing for Peterson, tells GlobeSt.com. “We do have a number of other tenant deals in the works as well.”

Many of these prospective tenants are restaurants, Chess says, but Silverspot is the cornerstone of the development’s entertainment component. The company, a division of Cines Unidos, is planning to open a 50,000-square foot, 12-screen movie theater at Rock Spring Centre—its third in the US, following the Mercato development in Naples, FL, and Met Square in Miami, which has not yet opened.
