HOUSTON-Hines' Multifamily Division launched construction on the seven-story, 322-unit WaterWall Place. The multifamily property, which is going north with help from Hines Global REIT, will have units ready for occupancy in November 2013, with final completion slated for mid-2014.

The complex will be situated on three acres at the northeast corner of Hidalgo Street and McCue Road, in Houston's Uptown/Galleria submarket. The multifamily property will also overlook the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park. The parking garage is being built first, with residential construction to start in mid-September.

Wallace Garcia Wilson is the project designer; Jackson Ryan the design architect and Urban Oaks Builders the general contractor. WaterWall Place will offer one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 700 square feet to 1,740 square feet. Hines is pursuing LEED Silver certification for the project.

"WaterWall Place is significant on many levels - it will be our flagship residential property in Houston; it is right next door to Hines' corporate headquarters; it is located in a high-density, highly amenitized area; and it will add to the vibrancy of the Uptown neighborhood," says Kevin Batchelor, Hines managing director and leader of the firm's Southwest Region multifamily platform in a press release describing the development.

Hines formed its Multifamily Division in January 2011. The division has more than 5,000 units in various stages of development in Atlanta, Austin, Cambridge, MA; Denver, Houston, Miami, Minneapolis, Phoenix, St. Petersburg, FL and Rockville, MD.
