THE WOODLANDS, TX-Layne Christensen Co. struck a deal with The Woodlands Development Co. to take down 51,152 square feet in the top two floors of One Hughes Landing. The international water management and construction company plans to relocate its 200 employees from its current spot in Mission City, KS to the 197,000-square foot office building on which TWDC recently launched construction.

One Hughes Landing is the first office building to break ground at the 66-acre, mixed-use Hughes Acre development, which is located on the 200-acre Lake Woodlands. Construction is anticipated for a September, 2013 completion, at which time Layne Christensen will move into its space.

TWDC was represented by Robert S. Parsley and Norman V. Munoz of Colliers International. Layne Christensen was represented by Sven Sykes of Colliers International (Chicago), Brian W. Johnson of Colliers International (Kansas City) and Jay Kyle of Colliers International (Houston).

Designed by Gensler of Houston to be LEED Silver Certified, One Hughes Landing is the first of up to eight office buildings at Hughes Landing on Lake Woodlands, a development also planned to hold a boutique hotel, numerous retail and entertainment venues offering high-end specialty stores, and upscale multifamily housing. One Hughes Landing is currently 30% leased. The Howard Hughes Corp., of which TWDC is a subsidiary, has also secured $38 million in non-recourse financing from Texas Capital Bank and Woodforest National Bank for construction of the building.
