ATLANTA-WellStar Health System of Cobb County, GA has acquired the former home of Solvay Pharmaceutical for $4.45 million.
According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the not-for-profit Wellstar purchased the 112,000-sf building at 793 Sawyer Road in Marietta and nearly 20 acres of land from Stream Realty Partners and Brookwood Investment Group.
The property is part of a three-building office campus that previously served as the headquarters for Solvay Pharmaceutical. Abbott Products purchased Solvay in 2010, closing the Marietta campus. Last year, Osmotica Pharmaceutical purchased two of three buildings at the campus, leaving the remaining headquarters building purchased by Stream and Brookwood.
Simon Arpiarian of Stream Realty represented the partnership between Stream Realty and Brookwood Investment Group in the sale of the property. Dan Buyers of McWhirter Realty Partners represented WellStar Health System.
A Wellstar spokesman says the firm will commit up to $5 million in renovations to its new headquarters property and expects to move about 300 workers to the building later this year. See story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
