DALLAS-Saks Fifth Avenue plans to close its Galleria Dallas location, but the mall has a replacement tenant in the wings.

Charlotte, NC-based Belk will take over the 170,000-square-foot space, opening a flagship store in spring 2014, says the Dallas Business Journal.

New York-based Saks said it will close the Galleria location on June 15, after operating a Saks Fifth Avenue store in Dallas since 1982.

The department store also recently closed its store in Austin. It still operates stores in Houston and San Antonio, as well as Saks Off 5th stores as Grapevine Mills, Shops and Park Lane and Grand Prairie Premium Outlets.

Saks isn't the only high-end retailer to announce a departure from the market. Barneys New York said in October it would close its NorthPark Center store in April 2013.

Belk has 13 smaller stores in Texas but this will be the first flagship store of the region.
